So after getting past the "invalid operation" . . . ran the commands, and
somewhere in there was "linux headers are missing, which might explain the
failure above."  So there was a failure, and it seemed like apt didn't pull
in the headers package???  I'm just posting this before I run "intstall
linux headers" and reboot . . . we'll see what happens.
