I didn't click through all of your links provided, but there still was the
problems that Add'l Drivers seemed to have with selecting another nvidia
driver in the list of options that it provided, the length of time that it
took to try to do the job, and then when that didn't "work," on restart
selecting nouveau, in a rather "capricious" way . . . ??? So far the
nouveau driver provides good video, and function seems OK; there has been
in the past with a Debian based OS, where some functions of the computer
didn't work with nouveau and the gurus there suggested to install the
proprietary nvidia drivers and that did solve the problem I was having.
Now seems like we are flowing back to all-nouveau . . .?

The Add'l Driver app in Lu seemed to "hang" when trying to step back one
package . . . compared to the speed that U-MATE provided, again, like the
F1 key, I didn't try to go to another nvidia driver there, I just went
nouveau . . . but, if and when I get back to MATE I might try it for
comparo.
