[lubuntu-devel] Software Updater change...

Hi everyone...

I'm wondering if you could include a change (via an update to the application on all supported versions of Lubuntu) that would give the user an option (by GUI) to force the Software Updater to download only one package at a time. As you may be aware, the updater, as configured upon installation of the OS, attempts to download as many packages as possible at one time, I'm assuming to expedite the process. However, as I've experienced for myself, with multiple packages, there is a (greater) possibility that a problem with a server, the users internet connection or some other problem could cause the connection with a server to drop (thus causing the download to fail) and require the user to run the updater again to, hopefully, retrieve the package that was lost or failed to download. I actually had this happen to me a few weeks ago and, praise God, I was able to successfully retrieve the package after a second attempt. :-)

Apart from a matter of convenience, I'm wondering if such an error might cause panic or anxiety among newer users who may not know what to do in such a situation. The updater does not instruct the user to merely attempt to re-download the package after it gets done installing any other updates.

If it helps at all, I'm currently using Lubuntu 16.04 x64 on two different computers.  If you need additional, please let me know.

I also wish to thank Lubuntu's developers and those who maintain the various applications and programs for their hard work and providing what I consider to be an (overall) excellent distribution of Linux free of charge! For older systems, it has been my "distribution of choice" for several years now. I've included a copy of my public key in case any of you wish to reply using PGP. :-)

Thank you for your time and consideration. :-)

Sincerely...

Aaron R. Durland
