In any case, I will say one thing: Snaps kind of suck, but we also kind
of need them. One of the most difficult things for software developers
is to figure out how to package their software for all the different
distros there are. Snaps are a sort of universal package along with some
other competing ideas (Flatpak and AppImage), so this makes it super
duper easy to just work everywhere. However, like anything, they have
their downfalls. This is one of them. The extra footprint is another.
The sandboxing is weird and often you end up with a huge bloat of
dependencies you don't really want. But they do have their benefits.
