Thanks for stopping by with the thoughts about "SSD" . . . are you thinking
that an SSD will fix the 5.4 kernel problem???
Perhaps you didn't read through all of the posts, because the issue is the
comparative speed differential between the three systems on the same HDD
drive. I have two SSDs on this computer, and two HDDs . . . I am aware of
how much faster an SSD is, but I was just reporting the differences to the
devel list-serve, and perhaps one of the issues is the "snapd" syndrome . .
. but the other question is why a 20.10 system isn't upgrading the kernel
beyond 5.4 . . . and so forth.
Perhaps the ubuntu flavorings have become overly complex??? I had similar
issues with my U-MATE install and there I did take your advice to try and
replace it with Bullseye . . . and so far I haven't managed to bungle that
install like I seem to have done exclusively on my Lubuntu option . . . and
similarly the OpenSUSE and Manjaro options I also seem to have not
abused???? Only the Lubuntu is my bee-yotch for apt abuse??? : - ))))
