Unfortunately, that doesn't really test the question, which is: do you
have the same problem with the ThinkPad if you use a system based on the
same display manager (SDDM) but is otherwise different? I suspect the
issue is hardware based, somehow or another, whether it be the drivers
or something else. Using a different machine just adds more variables
and confounds things.
