Hi Brendan, Jan and everybody else,

I made and uploaded some 64-bit systems, that can be used to install
Lubuntu 16.04 LTS. They have the package

xserver-xorg-video-intel

installed in order to make things easier with Intel graphics, but they
should work with other graphics chips too.

where not only tarballs but also compressed image files are described.

The systems for UEFI and BIOS are 64-bit systems. There is a 64-bit
Lubuntu tarball and a compressed image file too. Those Lubuntu systems
work only in BIOS mode.

Please try [some of] them and tell me how they work :-)

Best regards
Nio
