Hi Nio,
*FIXED*
SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCES WITH lubuntu daily spin 20160729
Noticed a new spin available, downloaded it, used Startup Disc Creator to
put iso on USB flash drive, installed it on Samsung NC10 Netbook.
Typed into bash:
echo "Hello World"
echo 'Hello Ian'
and I got the expected output.
Did pretty much the same thing in LibreOffice Writer and it works OK.
Been busy doing this all day so will be taking a well-earned break :)

Well, on Ubuntu 16.0.4.1 64-bit, I am using GNOME Terminal 3.18.3 and it is
using UTF8-Unicode as its encoding. Quoted characters work as expected on
it.
On Lubuntu Yakkety Yak 20160727, I am using LXTerminal 0.2.0 and I can't
find its encoding.
I've tried this on LibreOffice Writer, and it, too, is having the same
problem with having to press " twice to get a character that is similar but
not actually the default " character.

Ian
