Bilal,
I'm not involved in the process but I've seen others discussing it to
varying degrees. The bug they refer is
https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/700724 which has some of the
reasoning behind the change. I hope that helps and I'm sure someone
will come along to give the official position and reasoning to the
list shortly (at least they mention the idea in the bug comments).
