How would you feel after doing a lot of work on and investing money in a
booth for a project for the 3rd year in a row and then getting a message
from the conference organisation(!) that a partner in the project also
claimed a booth without letting you know about that?

I think the problem is mostly that there was and is not enough
communication between Canonical (and I don't mean only technical people
but also business people!) & the community (which also includes all
sorts of people!).
