Unplug your drive, wait a few seconds then plug it back in again. Next open a terminal and type dmesg. What are the last couple of lines?

It seems to have happened around the time I upgraded from Fire Fox 45.0.2 to Fire Fox 46. Admittedly FF 46 came with some odd changes (not being able to maximize permanently the download screen for instance) but this is ridiculous. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?
