Upgrade to Kubuntu 16.04 LTS had issues

I did a similar upgrade today from 14.04 to 16.04 and the first question asked 
after it downloaded the packages was what DM did I want to use lightdm or 
sddm. I replied sddm, but it was never installed and I therefore had a blank 
screen instead of a DM.
