Which Kubuntu version do you use? According to
<http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=avidemux&searchon=names&suite=all&section=all> 
avidemux is only available for precise, trusty and wily. But you could 
download the last version from that page (and maybe dependencies) and 
install it with your current release.
