It's the current log generated by the same installation as the one above,
just a day or so newer.

It looks like a valid file for use with nvidia driver version 304.123.

XFCE on Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid), apparently, which output from the following
would confirm.

Likely this means you have Plasma installed, but something is missing.
Repairing the Plasma installation makes more sense to me, which would leave
you with a still working XFCE from which to perform repairs.

Probably start with this either on a vtty login or an XFCE terminal login:

	sudo apt-get install -f --reinstall plasma-workspace

Then log out of XFCE and try to login to a Plasma session. If that fails to
produce improvement, go back to an XFCE session terminal or a vtty and try:

	sudo apt-get install -f --reinstall kubuntu-desktop.

If that produces an error about not being installed already, do:

	sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop.

If none of the above get a working Plasma Desktop, I wouldn't expect another
15.04 installation to be helpful.

Probably better to forget about the other installation for the moment, and
forget about partitioning unless the repair process fails.

The existing partitions won't need to be deleted. All that will be necessary
to try to install 14.10 will be to ensure it gets installed to the currently
broken / partition. It should be installed with its bootloader on its /
partition instead of the MBR. Then when its installation is done, update-grub
can be run from 15.04 to add 14.10 to the 15.04 boot menu.
