I could be totally off base, but this sure reminds me of when my
power supply went bad. Whatever you do try, please make sure you have
everything backed up at all times and be prepared to open your wallet.
If it turns out you don't have to, that would be wonderful, but power
supplies can cause all sorts of bizarre behavior that's unpredictable
and tough to pin down, and they can take a whole lot of other hardware
out with themselves.
