no desktop effects in Trusty

Synaptic in trusty works very badly... As I had a problem to remove a
package I thaught to use muon and it works like a charm ! Interface is a
bit different but i think it's the better tool after (dying) synaptic...
I don't know why they stopped such a good tool ?
Distro have very special teste... When a tool works well we keep it ?
Is it use to change all the time, specially changing for changing...
