Who gets to make the "completely useless" determination? Lindsay signs her email so that receivers who care can validate the authenticity of her email. There is no reason that the set of receivers who care should exclude members of mailing lists. Thus, such signing is not "completely useless" to Linsday and those receivers who wish to check for message authenticity. Just because you aren't in this set of people doesn't mean that the entire set is null.
