Network Manager

I've got Trusty installed on a machine where I am working with kvm, so I 
set up bridged networking (br0) and disabled network-manager by creating 
an override file in /etc/init. How do I remove the Network Manager icon 
in the system tray, which now always shows a disabled icon?
