The mail is signed, so the ominously man in the middle can't edit the
mail. You need to get the public key and then you need to trust it,

JFTR it's a little bit bad-mannered to sign mails sent to mailing lists,
since signing mails sent to mailing lists is good for absolutely
nothing.
