I thank everyone for taking the time to answer my enquiry.
I have used my ISP's web mail in the past so I know that I can read and
delete e-mail that way and leave the rest on the server until I arrive
home. I feel a little silly now because I didn't think of that when I
asked about transferring e-mail from the Android tablet.
Reading e-books on my laptop gives me a headache fairly quickly and I
expect that a tablet wouldn't be any better. I do have a Kobo e-book
reader and I can read for hours without any problems at all. It does
have a web browser but it's not very useful.
I'm visiting Indochina where I understand, unlike China, accessing the
Internet is a simple matter. Wi-Fi hotspots are apparently common and
hotels seem to all provide wired or Wi-Fi Internet access for their guests.
So, after thinking about it a bit more I think I’ll save my hundred
dollars for something less frivolous.
