This problem kept coming back and with upgrade to KDE 4.14.0 became
much worse. Suddenly I could barely leave the computer alone for a
while without coming back to find that the only thing that works is
mouse movements - no input accepted.
Since I have experimented a bit with the neon-ppa for KDE5 I removed
that in the hope that it somehow might interfere with the KDE4
installation but no such luck.
Finally I started suspecting the screenlocker. For some time I have
used the "Desktop Widgets" screenlocker.
I have never had a "input freeze" when I work actively. So what if
somehow the screenlocker messes up by locking input but not showing
the widget and accepting "re-entry"??
I have now switched to "old-style screensaver", in my case "clock" and
have not had a freeze since.
Maybe this is your problem as well?
Kind regards,
