Urgent advise needed. Only guest profile accesible, my own profile not.

In the mean time, this page https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RecoveryMode made clear
to me how to come into the recovery mode. It is simply a matter of holding
the shift key when loading the bios menu is nearly finished. But now I come
into the next problem. When trying to move .kde to .kde-old, I get the
following message:

Cannot move 'root/.kde' to 'root/.kde-old': Read-only file system.

What to do next? Do I need tot change permissions somehow?
