While that is an option, I think the newly installed system might behave 
the same way as the old one. I suppose that the problem is one of the 
config files in the $HOME folder. Then reinstalling the system would 
only be a waste of time. Therefore I would first check if it is a 
problem of the installed system or the config files by creating a new 
user and then try if things work better when working as the new user.
