I have given up for now. I will stay where I am until 14.04 if it 
arrives as Kubuntu. Then I might just go through the whole "new fresh 
user recreate all accounts import all old data" procedure. At this 
moment I do not feel like doing that as the possible benefits of 13.10 
for my hardware and software does not justify that.
