battery monitor

Dear all,
my laptop is getting uninterrupted power supply still battery monitor is
showing AC adapter unplugged for few second then AC adapter plugged in for
few seconds. its happening periodically since i am using Kubuntu 12.04.
currently I am using Kubuntu 12.10 on Lenovo G550

also before 12.04 battery monitor used to alert with beep and message when
battery reaches critically low. since 12.04 battery monitor dont show any
message or beep , laptop gets turned off without giving any warning of low
battery.

my battery backup is very very low only 5-10 min. is it the reason of this
strange behavior of battery monitor ?
is it anything i can do to get warning message before getting laptop turned
off. and why battery monitor is showing message of AC adapter plugged in
and out ?
