Kubuntu 12.04 LTS and KMail

I've been using Kubuntu 11.04 as my "production" system for about a year and 
find it quite satisfactory.  This past week I cloned my 11.04 partition and did 
upgrades to 11.10 and then 12.04 LTS.  12.04 looks pretty good except for 
KMail2.  In the past I was able to access the same Kmail settings and mail 
from either 10.04 or 11.04 by putting them on my /DATA partition and and using 
symlinks.  That doesn't seem to work with KMail2.

Is there any way to share my 11.04 Kmail data in KMail2?
