I'm running Precise on two ThinkPad laptops:

* T520, Kubuntu 12.04 from alternate ISO
* X1, Ubuntu 12.04 command-line install, KDE packages added

The X1 is for all practical purposes running Kubuntu, but I built it up by
installing various KDE packages in the repositories. I initially installed
when Precise reached alpha 1 and have steadily kept it updated. The T520 was
freshly built from the Kubuntu 12.04 release bits.

Specs on the two machines are roughly the same: 8 GB RAM, SSD; the X1 has a
Core i5 processor, the T520 has a Core i7.

On the T520, Akonadi is still configured to use MySQL. On the X1 I've switched
Akonadi to SQLite. And despite the X1's slightly slower processor, KMail feels
a bit more responsive.

That's about all I can say to describe the difference.
