Hidden panel icons

Getting closer thanks. I have done as you suggested. When I look at
the list of the items that are running the one I want to add is not
there. Do I have to have the program running first? Or do I have to
make it start running at log in? I realise it is no good adding the
icon to the main part of the panel.
