11.04: rsyslog.conf: no kernel messages on tty12 anymore

Hi All,
until kubuntu 10.10, I had kernel messages (error and the like) on /tty/12.
For this to function, the entry in /etc/rsyslog.conf looked like this:
daemon,mail.*;\
news.=crit;news.=err;news.=notice;\
*.=debug;*.=info;\
*.=notice;*.=warn /dev/tty12
Somehow, since I upgraded to 11.04, this feature doesn't work anymore.
Is here anybody in (K)Ubuntu-userland who knows what's the problem here?
(unfortunately, this problem is unknown to the Google search engine)
Thanks for any help,
Ulrich

Eyes serve two purposes: to see with and to wheep with,
but certainly not to judge with.
