KUbuntu & Alsamixer

Hello,
     Does anyone know how to get alsamixer to save settings across boots? 
Every reboot I need to set my levels back to where they were.  This is 
particularly frustrating as it sets them to 0 so no sound until I do.  I have 
had this happen in KUbuntu 10.10 and now 11.04.

     Thus far aslactl save and restore have failed.
