Urgently help needed to get back "Kontact".

Hello everybody

Today, the KDE workspace crashed several times when starting up. That's why
I I renamed /.kde to "kde-old" with a view to replacing the workspace. By
doing so, I did manage to get back a functional workspace. However, one
major problem remains: the total KDE "Kontact" P.I.M. simply does not
function any more. When clicking at the "Kontact" icon at the panel or via
"K-menu", the package stops functioning even before it starts. When clicking
at it second time, I get a feedback that Kontact is already running,
although nothing from the PIM is functional at this moment.
I have tried to fix the problem by "reinstalling" Kontact. As a matter of
result, I lost all my calandar data, for which I did not yet find a method
to safely and effectively backup and sync it. My contacts I have backuped:
locally at my laptop and phone, online via the contact section of GMAIL.

However it may be, I really urgently need your help to get Kontact
functional again as well as to backup plus sync the calendar.

   OS: Kubuntu 10.10 along with KDE 4.5.1.
