If you haven't already tried this...
Following a problem I had with *loading* a particular file in the newly
released LO v3.4 can I suggest you try re-saving in a different format -
xls, xml, xlsx, whatever retains the required functionality. If that
works, save the new file back to the original format (with a name change
to preserve the original - just in case).
If it fails try re-saving/format-ing on another machine with Ooo.
