Problems in Kubuntu's loading screen

Yeah it looks really ugly, doesn't it?  Its got something do with some customization that Ubuntu does.  There is a fix though.
Install v86d and hwinfo then follow the instructions from [1] or [2].  You use the hwinfo command to find out the possible resolutions of your screen.  
Basically you have to edit a grub file then tell your Kubuntu to use it.  I've used it on multiple machines and it works.
