OpenOffice is really slow when saving a file

I've got 8 gigs ram, E8500 cpu @ 4.1ghz and an evga motherboard from 2008.
The gpu is a gtx 260. It runs pretty well. It's the only thing that's slow and that
makes the slowdown stand out. :(
