No. Had a perfectly good day - so far at least.

But the question still stands: Kubuntu is Linux is it not?

I have even been told in this list that Kubuntu uses the same 
repositories as Ubuntu and therefore uses *.deb files and not *.rpm files.

I really don't understand what your remark is supposed to be about: an 
attempt at humour or a veiled backhander?
