The upgrade took perhaps four hours. I had good speed downloading the
packages and it was 2500Mb to download. The download speed was OK for
me but I guess it can make big difference what mirrors one is using. I
had no problems with packages from other sources like Medibuntu or
Kubuntu Backports PPA. The only upgrade problem (I have problems but
not related to the upgrade process) I had was with Grub.
The older kernels is not removed but they should be easy to remove
with aptitude (look under under "obsolete packages").
I forgot there was one more problem with the upgrade. I had CDemu
installed from a PPA and there was a problem with removing it. I had
to add the cdemu group to be able to finish the purge of CDemu.
