Are our lives synchronized or what? :-)
My wicd started acting up 3 days ago. Not the same way as your but
maybe this will help anyway. In my case the computer would start up
and then find the router but then it could not get an IP. I thought
that it was the wifi dongle because my laptop was working just fine in
the same room. Both computers have the same dongle so I swapped them.
For some reason my computers know that the two dongles are not the
same and always makes one wlan0 and the other wlan1. After the swap
all was good. Funny thing is that it is good on both computers! I
don't know why but suspect that the wicd settings file has and error
or something. So my thought is for you to rename your current one to
backup or del it and restart your computer. Perhaps this will help.
Can't hurt and you can always restore the settings file.
