Kubuntu/Ubuntu does not remove everything from memory at shutdown

Not once did he say he didn't like kubuntu. His issue is how he
perceives "Mandrake shuts down cleanly" and kubuntu doesn't. If he
didn't like kubuntu, he'd tell us all to eat worms and die. He thinks he
has a handle on a problem that he relates then to the group, as he cares
enough to report it. That is properly assertive. He may be completely
wrong, but he may air his thoughts on the matter. There is always the
outside chance that he may not be completely wrong. 

I would be suspicious given that Mandrake doesn't exhibit the problem.
Or, he has something set, as some have mentioned, that prevents it from
"shutting down cleanly", as he puts it. Me, I'd do as Goh Lip said, as
that made some sense concerning retaining certain programs during
shutdown. My two cents, Ric
