lucid: DVDs no longer accessible

FWIW:

$ ls -al /dev/sr*
  brw-rw----+ 1 root cdrom 11, 0 2010-07-19 16:09 /dev/sr0

I have no idea where there isn't a sr1 entry, nor exactly how to generate
one with the correct properties.

Also, there is no mention of any /dev/sr* device in /etc/fstab (not even
/dev/sr0).
