Open Office upgrade??

I installed Karmic 64bit during the Beta testing of it, right up to
release. I got sound out of Karmic, no prob. But, it stuttered like mad
and that was unacceptable. So, I went back to Hardy. Later I decided to
install clean to Jaunty which was safely on level down. I'm happy with
it and KDE4. I mistakenly thought that Open Office and Jaunty would
still in line for upgrades so I would not defile my install with crowbar
tactics. With me so far? I find I had to dink with Office installed from
them, not kubuntu. "Fraught with peril" comes to mind. :) Ric
