How to rescue my data files before reconfiguring the 2 HD's of my desktop PC?!

Hi Bas,

you could try to boot with Knoppix, and then do (as root) '' e2fsck -fvy 
/dev/sdb7 ''. With -f you force a check (sometimes the file system is corrupt, 
but Linux doesn't know) and -v makes it verbose (you see the messages on the 
screen). -y means an answer of 'yes' to all questions about whether it should 
fix things.
