grub dependency problem

I thought about opening a bug on this but was stymied in how to
describe. I am not seeing this issue in any Google search, so I am
wondering if it is just me. Anyway, when I try to apply the latest
update to karmic I get a dependency problem. Most of the time these
simply go away with time. I have been seeing this one for over a week
though.

Here is what I am seeing:

=================================================
The following packages are BROKEN:
  linux-backports-modules-karmic-generic
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  grub{a}
The following packages will be upgraded:
  grub-common grub-pc linux-backports-modules-karmic
4 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 1,740kB of archives. After unpacking 991kB will be freed.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  linux-backports-modules-karmic-generic: Depends:
linux-backports-modules-2.6.31-13-generic which is a virtual package.
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

Remove the following packages:
grub-pc

Keep the following packages at their current version:
grub [0.97-29ubuntu58 (karmic, now)]
linux-backports-modules-karmic [2.6.31.11.22 (now)]
linux-backports-modules-karmic-generic [2.6.31.11.22 (now)]

Score is 332

Accept this solution? [Y/n/q/?] q
Abandoning all efforts to resolve these dependencies.
=================================================

Now, I have no desire to remove grub-pc because that is what I am using
to boot with. Grub, on the other hand, I *think* should have been
replaced by grub-pc. I hesitate to remove it though for fear of not
being able to boot. Most packages I am a little more caviler about but
the ability to boot is fairly near and dear to my hear :)

Any suggestions?
