Staying with Hardy

Yes, I have thought of that and in fact have virtualbox installed. What
I did not mention was that I am accused of spending too much time
upstairs on my computer. With a laptop I could still be using a computer
but with the family too.

If I can't find a suitable lappy in time for the arrival of Karmic then
I may well try it on VBox after all.
