KDE Console freezes arbitrarily under Karmic/AMD64 - GNOME unaffected

Well, yes, but in the case that I'm describing when it freezes it stays
frozen!  It doesn't actually crash, it's as if it's got itself into a
tight little loop that it can't break out of.
