You just need to add gsynaptics-init to the 'Autostart' in 'System Settings' > 'Advanced' tab;
make your changes in gsynaptics and it will remember them for next log-in :-)
Interesting enough, the gsynaptics website [http://gsynaptics.sourceforge.jp/] states that
gsynaptics will be obsolete -- replaced by GPointingDeviceSettings
