hibernate/resume and optical drive

hello Kubuntuers,
i can't complain about pm-hibernate not working anymore, been working
flawlessly for months now, from Karmic alphas till now, not a single
resume issue has been noticed.
except for this nasty bug *after* resuming. this bug has been forever
happening to me. from the days when pm-hibernate used to work only half
the times. the problem is with the optical drive notproperly recognized
anymore.
i have in dev 2 links, /dev/cdrom and /dev/cdrw both pointing to
/dev/sr0 . which is usually my cd writer drive. after a resume from
hibernate, this device will always report there is no media in the
drive, regardless of whether there is a CD or no. starting k3b, will
complain i have no burner on this machine. so what's wrong?
is there anyway i can re-detect such hardware? like, let the system
remove that /dev/sr0 file and look for the cd writer again and create
the device node for it?
i am no expert in these device nodes.
