9.10: No java?

I have never had to with Ubuntu. With Fedora you were in the "Hell of
Missing Links". 

Is it just me or does Firefox no longer use
~/.mozilla/firefox/plugins ?? I usually make sure that the correct link
to the java lib is there, but I'm not seeing that directory at all.
