Yes, it was there after install.

No I didn't remove anything "plasma" or "base"

Actually, I drug the bottom bar to the top and auto-hide. When the bar 
is hid the cashew isn't there.

I first noticed this in 8.10/4.1 & 4.2 and now in 9.04/4.2.2.

It's no big deal as far as I'm concerned. I don't want any trash on my 
desktop. Just a nice clean wallpaper. No widgets, whatsits, or anything.

Just an interesting observation.
