Jaunty upgrade to KDE 4.2.9 breaks Digikam

I've just upgraded Jaunty to KDE 4.2.9 and now Digikam isn't working - it starts but won't display any thumbnails. (Digikam isn't part of the upgrade so I suspect an incompatibility).

I've filed a bug but I don't know if the PPA stuff is supported. Is this likely to be fixed, or is there any way I can get it to work? It's amongst my most-used apps.
