I'm no expert, but someone else already pointed out that by Ubuntu
policy 4.2 cannot be the "official" KDE in Kubuntu 8.10. The "official"
KDE in 8.10 is now, and forever will be, 4.1.x.

4.0 was in fact more like a beta or possibly an "rc" rushed to "release"
because of some major distro's update schedule. I think most people
agree with that opinion. Now I'm no power user but 4.1 seemed to me to
be "ok", not great, just "ok". I've only had 4.2 for a couple days now
but so far it's doing well. I like a _LOT_ of the stuff better than 4.1.
So far it seems to be complete from/for my use. Is it "great"? Ask me
again about the release time for 9.10. Of course by then it will be
9.04/KDE 4.2 and not 8.10/KDE 4.2. I'd be willing to bet that by 4.5.x
it will be great. At least they about all the bugs out of three by then.

I'm not on the team and I'm not in charge. I can't even "promise" there
will be a Kubuntu 9.04 release. BUT, I'll tell you what. I'll bet you a
buck that KDE 4.2 is the default in 9.04.
